Remember the four police officer who were promoted, then The Queen changes her mind and illegally demotes them? This, after they have received at least one paycheck at the new promotion-based rate.
Well, these four officers are now joining the proud ranks of the "Take Ann to Court" brigade. And rightly so.
The result will be that the officers will win and not only given DOUBLE their back pay but have their lawyer's fees paid (as citizens we can only hope they are sharing a lawyer). I am sure the amount the four are due is miniscule compared to the court costs and lawyers fees the taxpayers will be facing.
Once again, the only way to get The Queen to do the right thing is via the court system.

They should have called him the Dork! I wouldn't look for GQ to come knocking at your door any time soon, Schneider. Just when you think you've seen it all.
JS Consulting, where BS works, seems to be a head-hunter. Perhaps city hall is trying to have 'BS' discover a new councilpuppet for Ward 3.
So what was the stupidest part of last nights meeting?
Ghost, of all the Barry Schneiders on earth, how was it determined that the BS on your link is THE BS for whom the $800 was approved?
Just a bit of advice from the council chamber above, I think great deference should be shown Ghost of Norm. I question the wisdom of questioning a ghost, especailly the ghost of a former Mayor.
Now back to the post. There is a very easy lesson in the Mayor Con approach to practicing law. City Attorneys are hired to give the City, its elected officials and employees, legal advice. That is, advise the City on how to do things right.
Questions like "I would prefer to hold my meetings in the City Hall and not elsewhere, how can I do that? Is that legal? Are there any limitations?
Or questions like, "I really don't think its in the best interest of the City to pay these four officers this amount of pay. How can I legally go about reducing the pay? Can I reduce the pay?"
These are called LEGAL questions and are typically answered by a LAWYER. The City's LAWYER is the Big Herm. We pay him to give us LEGAL advice.
Instead, Mayor Con, although acting in her official capicity chooses to ignore or not even ask the City's attorney's advice but hires the half steppin' Dougy-Ruds. I am not aware of any other City that Dougy-Ruds represents. If there is one, I am sure it is one of those municipal kingdoms along Midland. "Sorry sir, this is a barber shop. City Hall is around back." Doug's "municipal" experience came from his time as an assistant or associate county counselor. The public trough always attracts the best.
With all of these cases going on, I have come up with an idea. I am setting up a Mayor Con Litigation Fantasy League. Let me know if you are in. You can bet Big Herm will go early in the draft.

Thanks to the great detective work by Guy, it looks like we may be in for a dream come true. In addiiton to the shave and haircut at City Hall, we may be able to have a tall cool steroid laced lemonade and a hot dog while partaking in a good old fashion head message with the vibrator.
Did you note the lawyer representing Muscle Beach Lemonade and Hot Dogs? Now we have truly entered the major leagues with political crazies. Dick Gephardt staffers would be "spitting" mad about this one.
A quick point of clarification. If you can count on one thing from Lucky, its accuracy.
The attorney representing Muscle Beach and Hot Dogs (just typing that makes me laugh) was Tom Federer. The lunatic that ran against Dick Gephardt was not Tom, but his brother, Bill. My apologies to all the Federers for this broad generalization.
I hate when I get folks confused with their attorney brothers.
SPYDOG claimed that there must be a sunshine law violation since people know what happened with the Promotions at the June 26th 2006 Budget Meeting.
I guess he does not realize that according to the Sunshine Law the city has to make portions of those meetings availible to the public. Portions like a vote to approve the promotions of 4 police officers.
Also, on the news this Morning the showed a clip of Mayor Purzner saying that she was not against Mayor Purzner, but they need to contact the council members and get them to get behind her and fill the ward 3 seat.
What that has to do with the issue I don't know but it certainly sounds like blackmail to me.
They also reported that she admitted to appproving those promotions but had to take them back (I think her argument on that is her continued insistance that there is a 5 vote requirement to pass anything, which is of course wrong.

That was SNOOPDOG a/k/a Courtney who posted that foolish nonsense about Suzy breaking the Sunshine law. Courtney isn't playing with a full deck. The ORT just use her or should I say, take advantage of her.
What channel was it on, where "Mayor Purzner said she was not against Mayor Purzner"?
When is Purzner RN going to start adhearing to the advice of Attorney Herman? If she would listen to Herman, these law suits could be avoided. The City of Overland has Attorney Herman under contract, why doesn't Purzner use his services and listen to the man.
This law suit brought forth by the 4 Officers is not the last of it, there will be more.

Snoopdog, Spydog, whatever, they ar all raising the leg on the reputation of Overland. Perhaps if the Budget passes the New Animal Control officer will resolve this issue.
