Recount
From the KSDK channel 5 website.
A St. Louis County judge is granting a recount in the Overland mayoral race.
Mary Beth Conlon lost the April election to Mayor Ann Purzner by just four votes. She filed the motion last week.
The recount will be conducted next Tuesday at the election board in Maplewood.
The judge ordered a machine recount, which is a victory for Purzner, because her opponent wanted a hand recount.
Larry Friedman, Conlon's attorney, says, "We've got such a small margin and a sufficient number of uncounted votes, the hand count is the most accurate way to solve who won this election and that is of course what everyone is interested in."
Eric Tolen, Purzner's attorney, stated, "We think that we're going to have greater problems, a greater uncertainty and we're going to have greater mistrust if we in fact allow a hand count
I personally think this is bullspit. It should be a hand recount in order to include the 46 ballots that were not counted last time. When 11 times the margin of victory is not counted that makes for serious doubts.

Well if that judgement isn't an effing kick in the pants, I don't know what is. This is such a mess!
Mess indeed.
Speculation rampant.
Why speaking like Yoda am I?
Sorry folks.
Maybe the judge wants to see what will happen if you just run the ballots through machine before ordering a full on hand count. If results are different, he probably move on to hand count. If he doesn't eventually get to hand count we can assume that we are getting hand jobbed.
I don't understand why un-counted ballots are not counted by hand and added to totals.
If I have a ballot, how is the entire ballot ignored?
Gravy.
My sentiments exactly "Get ready for a recall".
An appeal of the judgement ran through my head too, however an appeal could be hung up in the courts for many moons. The clock is ticking....sigh...and g-r-r-r-r
Maybe the un-counted ballots were tossed in the FREE trash pick up!!!
Bahahahahaha.
I don't think I have had a pickled chad since my last trip to Europe!
When I was in Scotland serving as Drum Major in Her Majesties Royal Grenadiers me and my mates would hike down to the pub for a round of pickled chad, deep fried mars bars and pints of Guinness...
Oh wait I have never been to Scotland...
I'm totally bummed about the machine count! I'm going to hope for the best, but plan for the worst!

Got a feeling that MBC may pull this one off even if we don't get the job done by hand. Those uncounted votes are key. Gravy is right. Still, we are only talking about 5,000 votes. How tough can the hand job be?
By the way, watch for Karam Abdul Jabaar to make a run in November. He wont be trying out for the NBDL, he is looking NBA. Hope that makes sense. I know Gravy will be right on this one too.
I loved The Purz on the stand as Hermann Munster asked her repeatedly to point to one bit of law that authorized her acts. She continually answered that she wasn't sure exactly but knew there was something. I am not sure whether to be disgusted that an elected official who knew about this hearing for weeks is no better prepared than this OR to be amazed that this was Tolen's trial prep. Believe me, I could have at least come up with some sort of answer about "inherent authority" or some such nonsense. Truly unbelievable and a true indication that she has NO case.
