Goodbye Overland Rose

Goodbye Gravy Crane,
Though we barely knew you at all,

You had the grace to hold yourself,
While those around you crawled,

They crawled out of the land-fill,
desparately wanting free trash,

But most the the time,
you could only scratch your dome,

And it seems to me you battled with,
two horrible bags of wind,

Never knowing which one to rip-on,
When their posts came in,
And I would have liked to have known you
But I couldn't quite get your id,

Your posting burned out long before
Your legend ever did

The ORT love's the public trough,
and want a pool that will be big enough,

The OVCC turned you into a local superstar,
for merely demonstrating the ORT is bizarre,

Even when ORTIANS could not be true,
Oh the OverlandChatters hounded you,

But what little flavor they had to add,
Was that Gravy was only rude,

Goodbye Gravy Crane....
From the one of the 15,180 posters you know,
Who also see Mayor Con as inefectual,
Gravy you were much much more,
than OVCC's resident intellectual.

Friends, Patriots, Countrymen,

I must be going. As most of you know, my first love is talk radio and to that world I must exclusively return. I thank you all for the memories and I am sure that we will meet again on the other side. (Or when I return with a different name in a little while.)

In closing, as I leave, let me say, this is an example I think all of us should remember. We think sometimes when things happen that don't go the right way; we think that when you don't pass the bar exam the first time We think that when someone dear to us dies, we think that when we lose an election, we think that when we suffer a defeat that all is ended. We think, as Teddy Roosevelt. said, that the light had left his life forever. Not true.

It is only a beginning, always. The young must know it; the old must know it. It must always sustain us, because the greatness comes not when things go always good for you, but the greatness comes and you are really tested, when you take some knocks, some disappointments, when sadness comes, because only if you have been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.

And so I say to you on this occasion, as I leave, I leave proud of the people who have stood by me and worked for me and served this community. I want you to be proud of what you have done. I want you to continue to serve Overland, if that is your wish.

Always give your best, never get discouraged, never be petty; always remember, others may hate you, but those who hate you don't win unless you hate them, and then you destroy yourself.

"Is it Good god or is it Good God??????????????".

Put the bong down for once Goat and explain what the hell does that sentence(?)mean?

Its hard to make fun of you when you get really baked like that. Your sort of incoherent Spicoli.

What do you mean you are leaving? Am I misinterpreting your post?

Hmmmm, it seems that OverlandChat is offline.

When you go there it says:

Message board unavailable
As of 8/6/2006, this message board is not available.

To the board owner: Please log in to the administration area for an important message.

If it was just unreachable, I would think it was a technical issue. But with a message like that I imagine it is down either because the bill os overdue (which happens to the best of us at times), or the host company felt the site was violating it's terms of service.

Board Host's terms of service can be found here:

http://www.boardhost.com/terms/

I found this part interesting:

You agree to monitor your message board, checking it at least once per day, for any content that violates these terms. Unmonitored boards are not allowed.

There are also some content restrictions there. I think we can all see that OverlandChat had issues with several of them, most notably Hatred and Harassment.

Finally, under account termination we find a list of reasons BoardHost would terminate an account. One seems to stand out in this case:

Significant or repeat violations of any provision of these terms.

In the end, it could be simply that a required update has not been handled and SPYDOG will have the board up and running again very soon.

But we can always dream. :-)

I thought Charlie Brown's "tag line" was Good Grief? :-)

Though I see how the second half of good ole' Charlie Brown's Tag Line would apply to OverlandChat, I am at a loss as to where the first part would be appropriate. :-)

At one time SPYDOG was soliciting people for money to keep his site going. I guess Sweetpickles forgot to send in her "donation".
It also could have been due to the contents posted on the board. Who knows.

Spydog is stupid to pay for that. There are a million free services out there. You have to tolerate a few google ads, but...free it is.

I just laughed at his donation request. It will be a cold day in hell...

I tried to point out services like invisionfree.com to SPYDOG.

That service has a better product, with lots of customization availible, and great security features. Most importantly it is FREE.

Perhaps, if this is a billing issue, SPYDOG will re-consider invisionfree.com now.

Sailor,
Last year, there was an ad placed,(I think it was the Localite) telling people about the Overlandchat site. That is how I came upon it. I wonder if he will place another ad if he goes to invisionfree.com.
At least the last posts up there, was of DANNY admitting how attractive Suzy is. That had to have put a burn to Sweetpickles!!
