It reminded me of the episode of the Simpsons where Bart saw a lever that he knew when he pulled it would dump him back into trouble and danger and yet he still pulled it, while commenting that he couldn't help himself. Overland voters went to the polls and pulled the lever to contine the downward slide into the gutter that Overland has been on for years. More cronyism, more backroom deals and more of the status quo. But at least now you can see exactly who really runs overland. Simply follow the money and find out who is going to be telling the band what to play as their hired mayor dances. What tunes will the Dody's, the Paul's and the Munsch's call for? Will the Ortmann family call for a funeral dirge? Cogg should change it's name to Citizens of Overland for Graft and Greed. But I can't just blame them. Afterall they just endorsed and presented the candiate. The citizens of Overland were the ones that left their houses and went to the polls.

You got out while the getting was good. My family will be leaving Overland in a few months before it gets worse in this area.
The same people that voted in the status quo will be the same people that will cry out and wonder why their property value is going down, why crime is getting worse, why there will be many more for sale signs in front of houses, more businesses leaving empty store fronts etc etc etc. They will only have themselves to blame, for helping the puppet dance. Greed eventually will get them nothing in return.

A position for a Caucasian member of COGG who was let go in the PD recently for not being able to do the job is being created in PW where two African Americans were recently fired. Last evening I decided to write a conciliatory post to Schneider outlining how he could mend some fences and allay fears of crony-ism. I hoped he would understand that some very talented people actually do live in Overland that are outside the COGG/ORT coalition. He would be well served politically and administratively to do so.
Then I read today's harvest of thoughts. Trying to speak truth to power in this case is pointless.
Schneider lied about his business/administrative experience and wouldn't know a meritocracy if it came-up and bit him in the ass.
The GOB/Schneider interest in Overland begins and ends with their informal "jobs program" for any unskilled, unexperienced slovenly loser's in their lives that can't find employment in the free-market.
My hopes are drawn from the fact that Schneider has no working majority on the board and will lose Keller/Owensby's loyalty in due time.

The only politician in Overlands somewhat recent history to say that was Mr. Brown, and he did move.
It is nice to see some many people talking about putting aside their differences and working together on Overland's future. However, as long as people like Snoop continue to spread hate and discontent with distortions, half-truths and outright lies, that is going to be very hard to accomplish.

Sweetpickles I don't know where you are getting your information but it is more that likely completely inaccurate.
The majority of the people who picketed City hall during Mayor Puzner's time in office were devout Schneider supporters. The majority of COGG's most active members were devout Schneider supporters, and the majority of COGG's leadership (if not all of them) were devout Schneider supporters.
As a result, I think it is highly unlikely that the people you seem to be referring to will be making any effort to protest let alone Recall Mayor Schneider.
Whether or not this makes COGG hypocritical or visionary will remain to be seen. I imagine the first chance we'll get to determine this will come when the City Administrator issue is raised.

Sweetpickles, one more thing. It was the illegal actions of former Mayor Purzner the caused the city to be "stagnated" during that time, no one else. If she had chosen to follow the law rather than the advice of incompetents, COGG and the movement against her, would likely never have started. In the unlikely event that it would have started anyway, it would never have gotten any traction of succeeded.
If you want to prevent these sorts of issues in the future you're going to have to look for the root cause, and in this case the root cause was clearly former Mayor Purzner and her advisers.

Your expertise is mostly limited to counting asses at council meetings in order to testify in cases handled by Eric Tolens, but given the election results I think your argument that the voters of Overland do not want to be represented by Conlon is a bit....... over-blown.
Conlon earned 41% of the votes. Therefore 41% of electorate want policies she promoted and I hope she will vigorously pursue these policies as Councilman.

The original person who started COGG filed for a fictitious name on July 6th, 2006 which would be over a month after Mayor Purzner was in office and after she already started to violate state statutes with the attempted removal of the Chief of Police and the City Attorney.
The People who came to lead COGG Filed as a continuing committee with the Missouri Ethics Commission on September 19th, 2006.
Where you got that they filed their paperwork 11 days after the April 3rd, 2006 election is beyond me.
Yes, Mary Beth Conlon Raised money for COGG, unlike Mayor-to-be Schneider. However, the majority of COGG members and the majority of the leadership (if not all of them) ARE Schneider supporters who either ignored this difference or simply didn't care. Most of those who were Conlon supporters have left the group out of disgust, and those who remain are likely to leave in the near future. Other than expressing disappointment, concern for the future, and/or congratulating Mr. Schneider on his victory there are very few acting badly. The worst has been Snoop/Spy/Jay dog and his in your face, "we won" juvenile antics.
However, you are correct, this is very similar to how people acted after former Mayor Purzner was elected. People were disappointed and concerned for the future and some acted childishly with there "we won, you smell" kind of talk.
People only became outraged and started looking into what could be done when former Mayor Purzner started ignoring the law and ordinances, making Overland a laughing stock in the news, etc.
redneckIF (a big "if" since she has not spoken on this subject that I am aware of) Councilperson Keller wants to sue COGG this should be fun to watch.
Political speech is the most protected there is in our country. Someone sending a mailing out saying that they don't think people should vote for you is not "hate speech", it is opinion, and people have the right to express theirs publicly in America. I'd be curious to see what sort of lawyer would handle such a case for her (assuming she is actually planning to try such a stunt, which I doubt).
The only thing that bothers me about that letter is that there will be those in COGG trying to use it to take credit for Councilperson Keller's extremely low vote count.
In reality that letter likely had little to no impact on this election. Councilperson Keller's own message (or more aptly, her lack of one), her apparent lack of understanding of the issues facing Overland, and her failure to participate in any campaign events are the reasons only a few voted for her.
But hey, if she realy does want to try to sue those who told the public not to vote for her (which I still doubt), tell her to add my name to the list of defendants.
I'd like to get in on the counter-suit easy money action that will shortly file such foolishness too. :-)
