muckraking and stupidity at its best
The ORt forces on the other site like to constantly trot out my line that this site is muckraking and stupidity at its best. They throw it around like it's some kind of insult. But we all know the truth. That in a situation like this sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying. Since they banter the phrase around like it's an insult they must obviously not know the definition of the key word in the phrase. They hear muckraking and they assume that it is something bad. For a definitely smarter opinion on this then any of the ORt supporters have let's go to wikipedia:
muckraker is a journalist, author, photographer, or filmmaker who investigates and exposes issues of corruption that violate widely held values, such as political corruption, corporate crime, child labor, conditions in slums and prisons, unsanitary conditions in food processing plants, fraudulent claims by manufacturers of patent medicines, labor racketeering, and similar topics.
The term muckraker is most usually associated with a group of American investigative reporters, novelists and critics from the late 1800s to early 1900s, but also applies to contemporary persons who follow in the tradition of those from that period. See History of American newspapers for Muckrakers in the daily press.
Although the term muckraking might appear to have negative connotations, muckrakers have most often sought, in the past, to serve the public interest by uncovering crime, corruption, waste, fraud and abuse in both the public and private sectors. In the early 1900s, muckrakers shed light on such issues by writing books and articles for popular magazines and newspapers such as Cosmopolitan, The Independent, and McClure's.
So while they may think they are insulting all of us by calling us mackrakers I like to think of it as a compliment. Because all of us are authors and reporters investigating the corruption that is city hall.

Funny, I thought about that way back when but to be honest I was not sure if it was one of those words whos usage had changed in modern times. Looking it up in various new dictionaries I discovered that it had not (as far as I can tell anyway).
It is really funny that people "insult" you and others with what you actually are. LOL
As for me, I stepped in your territory a bit. I simply could not help myself, after all of the discussions about Freedom of Speech and Satire, I just had to toss my hat in the ring too. :-)

ORT = lack of genius and genuinenes
Never before has a group been so dumb and so disreputable and this group of clowns.
The ORT is still living in the snake oil salesmen era. They are turd merchants.
Although, sanke oil salesmen still rear their ugly heads from time to time. They rope in as many dumb chits as they can and take off with the mula.
Ahh..East Boogie. Perhaps more disreputable. But, probably not more dumb.
Can eminent domain be used by the city for property that the city owns?
I can see the ORT using this most inefficient use of giving someone something they already have.
That aside, trying to sell the Seminary Property would be about as popular with the populace as trying to fire the police chief.
This is to good to pass up.
From what I've heard the temporary order againt the mayor and where she holds the meetings council & budget, all are to be held at the com. ctr..
Last week the mayor said she vetoed the ruling by the judge & told the city clerk to put out a letter to all councilmen that there will be two budget meetings, one Thurs. & Frid. and she will be making appointments. She was told she can't do that. She didn't care said send the letter. A letter was sent about the meetings but not about the appointments from what I understand. (She would be in contempt of court holding the meetings in city hall). She sent the letter back to the clerk telling her she was being insubordinate. Don't know who she talked to but changed her mind and cancelled both budget meetings.
Can someone explain to me how you can veto a judge. (just kidding) The woman has totally lost it.
I'm hoping one of the councilmen brings this out tonight at the meeting.
Correction, I was told last night it was just for the council meetings.
Ann Purzner allowed 5 people to speak before the gathering grid-locked up in RROO.
A motion was made and seconded that the Resident’s Comments portion of the gathering be extended in view of the number of people seeking the attention of the CC.
Ann Purzner refused to poll the vote; I believe what she mumbled so poorly that the meeting “be adjourned”. Mind you the meeting at that point had not even begun yet.
The speakers and microphones went out of order at that point, causing people to get up and eventually wander around. Chief Herron found a new microphone system and things got running again.
Purzner apparently allowed another 15 minutes; during the entire time she was interjecting her points of view, while she forbade councilmen from responding.
Consequently fewer residents had time to speak.
Purzner vetoed the majority vote turning down the General funds portion of the Budget, as the agenda documents was planned all along under “veto messages”. Purzner also vetoed the council’s motion to investigate the Overland Watch nonsense.
The majority: May, Corcoran, Schneider and O'Connell expressed interest in seeing that the elderly and impoverished be relieved of the burden of trash payments. Knode rebuked that, surmising that some need folks wouldn't assert their need because of their pride. On the other hand it was Knode who alleged that he had so many people calling him to express their dismay over paying for trash. Pride, Eh??
The 300 applauded vigorously against the notion of free trash, against the Mayor and the ORT, and IN favor of the council majority, repeatedly on all counts.
Another bit of Knode's thoughts: he commented that those in attendance aren't a majority of the city of "17,000" [sic], perhaps not realizing that 300 out of 3000 voters is a very, very meaningful sample.
