Whatever happens I still would like answers to my questions. One other thing. Oakes oppponent seems to be solely campaigning on brining Mr. Oakes down, instead of what she could do for (to?) the city.
However, campaigning about both Prop A and yourself at the same time is completely legitimate as both issues are on the ballot. In addition, by stating that one disagrees with a certain action can show where they stand on such an issue.
For example, if Oakes said "The mayor wants the city to pay for trash and it can't be done without eliminating other areas" this may show fiscal responsibility by Oakes as well as his view of importance of other departments such as public works or police.

But Sparky wants her Civil Defense Free-Be from the government. Sparky wants to be back on the dole, sucking up community resources while providing no benefit.

I am not sure if Carol just thinks she is sly or coy. However, coy never looks good on the over 20 crowd, let alone the over 60 crowd.
BTW, I have never, ever made a personal attack on someone. I have used real names, but think if you are going to make a statement you should be willing to stand behind it. I have attacked the items in people’s post and if their logic is stupid, I will say so. However, I have never posted about someone’s personal life or personal shortcomings. I find that those who do so (Donna Dill and Carol Sparkes, for example) only do so because they cannot refute the attackee’s statements. It’s equivalent to intellectual laziness.

I was going to post something about our mailboxes being littered upon greatly in the enxt day or two. The ORTian tactic is to always wait until the last minute so that their victims cannot rebut their lies. However, this whole Purzner mess had made for a very tight-knit community. Word of mouth to refute their lies will spread fast. After all, it only took a few hours for Wanda's escapades with the yard signs to hit every ward.

When it comes to Cell phone bills there were two bills that were ridiculously high. One was Councilman Corcoran's and he did pay his approximately $800.00 bill himself. The other belonged to Councilman Sellers who disputed the bill and turned his phone in. Councilman Seller's argument that the approximately $1000.00 in calls were not his was apparently strong enough that Verizon waived the bill.
This appears to be another example of the great job the people in our Finance department are doing when it comes to maintaining fiscal control at City Hall. You hear all the time about other cities and level of governments being stuck with outrageous phone bills and the like. In Overland, our financial people make you pay up! :-) They deserve out thanks and admiration!

I just read the article in today’s Post Dispatch Metro section page 10A. Now these ignorant, Purzner the lying RN, supporters can put this issue to rest. Purzner LIED about being a Nurse, Purzner LIED about having a degree from Maryville University, and Purzner continues to LIE and LIE and LIE.
If I said this once, I will say it a thousand times, if somebody lies about something as profound as being a nurse; what else will they lie about? Why would anybody lie about their credentials? The funny thing about this is, Purzner and Donna Dill lie about things that can easily be checked. You can check online in any state of the Union who is or isn’t or was a nurse. You can check with Universities and Colleges if somebody claims to have attended them. THESE ARE DANGEROUS AND PROFOUND LIES.

Sailor, Thanks for the info on the cell phone bills. However, I would like for them to be even more vigilent and get cell phones with contracts that wouldn't even allow that high of a monthly bill. It would seem they would have at least the same power of negotiation that I have with my cell phone company.

I understand when people want to avoid putting their "personal" life online. However, when you have accepted a public position, be it volunteer or paid, you're subject to public scrutiny.
Carol Sparks was once the Civil Defense Coordinator (I believe that was the title) in Overland. Now Mayor Purzner named her as one of the members of the new Emergency Preparedness Committee (not 100% sure on the name of this committee yet either) at a recent City Council Meeting.
I appreciate peoples desire for privacy, but ultimately, when you choose to put yourself into the public eye, especially when accepting a position on a public body, you have to face the reality that your privacy will erode.
