If by "socks on the floor" you mean total disregard for the law...

The following is taken from the KTVI website. In their story, they state that this is the press release verbatim. I think they wanted to be clear that the misuse and misspelling of words was on the mayor’s end and not their staff.

“I was elected the Mayor of Overland in April 2006 by the majority vote of the people. A re-count took place and I remain the elected Mayor of Overland by the majority vote. The challenges I’ve incurred since the election is spearheaded by a select few that are aligned with the previous administration and appointed officials. I wonder shy these people are so afraid for me to fulfill my term of office. My compass in acting on City business is to be accountable to all not just a select few. I just hope the residents of Overland can connect the dots and look to the real issues, not the political infighting, that affects our community. As a marriage counselor once said 'The real issue is not about the socks being left on the floor.' I will continue to perform my duties as Mayor, as elected, until my term expires. If the re-call vote prevails so be it.”

Whew boy…where to begin?!

First, she was not elected by a majority (nor with 2000 votes) but by a plurality. Meaning, she got more votes than anyone else. The fact is the majority—more than half—voted AGAINST her.

She says a “select few”. I think 3900+ petition signatures negate that and the “only 10 people against me.”

I wonder “shy” these people? Really, get a proofreader!

Connecting the dots to the real issues. I think most folks would consider a mayor who repeatedly breaks city ordinance and state statute a real issue. I think most folks would consider an administration that refuses to listen to the residents’ concerns (via residents’ comments) a real issue. I think that most citizens are concerned about who is spearheading the mayor’s policies and encouraging her non-evenhanded tactics to be a real issue.

I am not sure how to interpret the “I will continue to perform my duties...until term expires. If the recall prevails, so be it.” Does this mean she will refuse to step down, even if recalled, until April 2010? She has made conflicting statements in the past. Once she said, if recalled she would go away peacefully. A few weeks later she said she would fight like a dog. What is her plan if recalled? Will she hold the office hostage? Will we have a stand-off?

The problem IS the owners of the socks on the floor, as they are from St. Charles and elsewhere, not Overland.

Wow....loaded statement about the socks on the floor. Could that be about the men that come and go out of Purzner's life? Did they always toss their socks on the floor? I guess it's a sock thing we wouldn't understand.
Did she know that WWF wrestler that had a hand sock named Mr. Sock-o? Mankind was his name.

I guess Purzner thinks the “socks” statement will deviate from her unlawful behavior and lies.

To Purzner, Owensby, Knode & Sellers, we have connected the dots, that is the problem.

Purzner, Mark Brown, Charles Karam, Joe King, Matthew McWilliam, Ben Branch, Tolen, Rudman & Phelban, Donna Dills & the few will still may not know about.

The mayor is kidding no one but herself if she thinks the Overland residents are stupid to this fact.
Or to whatever you plan on pulling from here on until April.

But let's not forget that you Mr. Knode will have a election to win & isn't Brown up for re-election, when are you two going to find time for our poor mayor.

I still love the few that are against her, almost 4000 signatures and she still consides this a few.

Sorry, let's not forget 11/20 when the judge will hand down her decision on the sunshine violations.

Hey Knode, does the mayor plan on holding a meeting on 11/27? or is she going to wait until after 12/4 to postpone all meetings?

Fido,
I apologies for pointing out the order of the Council Meeting Agenda to you, I thought you posted the adjournment was after resident comments. You indeed posted the adjournment was before resident comments.

I have to wonder if that woman can even pass a GED test, with her mental deficiencies.

1. "majority": A stupid lie. Twice!

2. "challenges ... is spearheaded"
Golly gee, - they IS?

3. "people are so afraid" ...both a sad delusion and insult as well.

4. "My compass in acting on City business is to be accountable to all not just a select few." Such meaningless nonsense doesn't come from a healthy mind, much less permission to broadcast it.

5. She hopes Overland can "look to the real issues, not the political infighting". Put another way, the stupidity of her conduct can be overlooked. In her dreams.

6. "socks being left on the floor."
That woman has no understanding of any real issues that owensby hasn't shoved into her brain.

7. "I will continue to perform my duties as Mayor," ... CONTINUE??

8. "as elected, until my term expires." Has she no idea that she's not far from being removed from her job, by Recall?

9. "If the re-call vote prevails so be it.” I'd love to believe this attempt at lucidity, but I lack the gullibility & imagination.

Hey Two Layer, I've got Two questions:

You wrote does the mayor plan on holding a meeting on 11/27? or is she going to wait until after 12/4 to postpone all meetings?

Why would the mayor consider cancelling the 11/27 meeting?

What is important about the 12/4 date that she would do meetings after that date?

According to the post from the Channel 2 site, the mayor asked "I wonder shy these people are so afraid for me to fulfill my term of office." I believe she meant "why are they afraid for me to fulfill my term of office?"

I have the answer! One can only assume that the good people of Overland are afraid of what further damage she could/would do if allowed to serve all 4 terms. Did you say April 2010?! Yikes that seems far off!

Speaking of knode, he's way out of line for harassing Mr. Corcoran, especially after being instructed as to the error of his ways.

In the past, knode has mispronounced GC's name as "Cockran".

He reinforced his intention by stating that since Jeff O'Connell doesn't use the mayor's full title with her surname, knode is justified in corrupting the family name of councilman GC.

Namecalling ... he did it first.

knode's reaction is overdone, misplaced, and lacking in standing. knode has no personal cause for rebuttal since he was not insulted.

To turn a councilman's family name into a vulgarity, sinks below the lowest form of acceptable conduct. Nor was the mayor insulted in a vulgar fashion.

As to the mayor not counting Councilman Corcoran as a member of the council: She's way out of line as well.

Blogger suzyjax said...

Oh yes, the ludicrousness of The Queen on Monday.

Corcoran is not on the council.

She doesn't recognize Bob Herman.

She doesn't recognize the motion that she just polled a vote on.

And the creme de la creme:
Almost everyone in the audience was NOT from Overland.

Who needs Comedy Central?

Blogger ORT Contrarian said...

The Mayor's statement about the non-residency of the audience, council members, et al can be attributed to her overall myopic view.

After all, Donna Dill, Brown, Karam, are all non-residents. The bulk of her supporters are non-residents. Thus, the bulk of the dissenters must be non-residents, too.

Crazy ORT logic.

Suzyjax,

The decision from the judge is to come on Monday (11/20) and depending on what the judge says could influence her on having a meeting on the 27th. She said the other night she will be costing the city close to $20 thousand on Monday. Providing she loses and the judge holds the city responsible.

The judge could slap the city on the hands with a small fine & if the judge finds her reponsible a huge fine on her which means she lose.

On the news today the election board said they should have an answer for COGG on 12/4 if a recall can happen & the council will have to vote on having one. Have no meeting, have no vote.

By law from what I understand she only has to have 1 meeting a month and that just having a role call is considered a meeting and they can get up and walk out.

Considering the cr..p they've pulled in the past I'm going to assume she's going to delay a vote as long a possible. Not to mention trying to fight the recall in court if she has any supporters or money left.

ort contrarian,
You hit the nail dead nuts on the head, about Purzner thinking people attending the meetings are not from Overland, is because her supporters are outsiders (carpetbaggers).

Thanks for the clarification, Two Layer.
On Channel 4, the way they worded their statement was that the "county election board would force the city to pass an ordinance to put it on the ballot". It was stated as if there wasn't anyway to legally avoid it.

Of course, The Queen only has a passing acquaintance with the law.

One of the channels reported at noon that the court would order it placed on the ballot. Thanks for setting it straight for me.

Suzyjax,

I believe it was channel 4, I took it the same way, that they have to do it. I never heard any mention of majority, 2/3 or 5 votes.

Considering what they have pulled in the past, I am waiting for the mayor to say it needs 5 votes. And she only has to have 1 meeting a month by law from what I understand.

I have no idea what will happen if they try delaying a vote.

And depending on how the judge rules on Monday may effect what she might or might not try to pull.

Hey Sweaty,

Why, when the mayor says that the meetings are being packed with non-residents is ok with you and her 10 supporters, but when you apparently, according to your blog are doing what she claims they are, yours are INVITED? So you, being a non-resident yourself & shouldn't even be there, are allowed to INVITE non-residents to the meetings as long as you ask them but Overland residents are not allowed to & are being accused of packing the meetings.

Do I smell a fish.

Being one of her supporters I would think you would have made sure and watched her interview on channel 2, why didn't you blog on the chat that she was incorrect on the number of votes she received?
Funny how you never remember those little facts.

And I find it amusing that when all Overland residents were asked to stand not just their supporters but ALL Overland residents, why didn't Wanda baby, Courtney & Ennis just to name a few stand? Don't they live in Overland anymore?

The only ones in the dark are the mayor & her supporters.

Those people you mentioned are nothing more than star struck Purzner groupies. I guess it gives those lonely hearts and empty minds a sense of belonging. They are being used by the ORT and don't even realize it. When the ORT no longer has a use for them, they will be cast aside like yesterday's news paper.

I have some questions, which always seem to go unanswered by the ORT groupies. Where are the people that voted for Purzner? Why are they not at the meetings? Where are these people that can't buy their medicine because they have to pay their trash bill? Where are the people that are losing their homes to foreclosure, because they have to pay their trash bill? These circumstances that are SO life changing and important, one would think they would be coming in droves to the meetings to voice their plight. Something smells like dirty socks on the floor.

This is an excerpt from an interview with the infamous Mr. Sock-O :

Mr. Sock-O said, "I'm going to drop kick Tom, Dick and Hairy at the next Council Meeting" Mr. Sock-O went on to say "I'm going to throw Purzner out of the ring".

Mr. Sock-O came to Overland because of the Mayor’s statement about socks on the floor. Mr. Sock-O feels that Purzner misrepresented socks, not only for the United States of America but for the whole world.

I also heard that when Sweaty ran the concessions for the Lion's they never seem to make a dime.

I wonder how many surrounding coummunities mayor's have a police escort when they leave the meeting. I'll call Berkeley and ask if their mayor walks out with one.

The only thing Purzner needs to be afraid of is the mirror and her own reflection.

Mirror mirror on the wall who's the stupidest mayor of all. You of course Ann.

Last April or May during one of the citizen's comments after all this mess started, one of the residents during the comment said (not exact words) "she didn't care who the mayor has slept with).

Point is the mayor never flinched or disagreed with the person. Not one word.

Also, while we're on the subject, did hear that one of the people she wanted in, in the beginning she apparently knew a little to well about 10 years ago.

I was very pleased that the resident comments were aired last night. For those that did not attend the meeting, you can now see what Purzner and her 3 yes men's plan was all along, to walk out on the residents after the meeting was adjourned. This is why Purzner put resident comments after adjournment, for the sole purpose of walking out on them.

Once again, a big thank you to:
Mr. May, Mr. O'Connell, Mr. Schneider, Linda Downs, and Chief Herron, for showing you care about the Citizens of Overland to stay and listen.

I agree with the couple of residents that voiced their opinion about Purzner's personal propaganda site being linked to Overland's Official Website. Purzner's link should be removed; our tax dollars should not have to pay for somebody pushing propaganda.

Check out Purzner's latest update on her propaganda website. For how long have Purzner and her 3 yes men toted the "FREE TRASH" issue? Now on the latest update, she says the following:

Like the one about "FREE TRASH"
...Well of course we all understand that nothing in this life is free.

-These folks just love to use the term "FREE TRASH" to confuse and muddle the issues.
Click here to hear Mr. Schneider

Hellooooooooooo, what is wrong with the picture here. Now Purzner is slamming Mr. Schneider and others for calling it "free trash" when Purzner all through her campaign and almost on every propaganda message and flyer, she has called it FREE TRASH. She is Mental!!!!! Get out the shovel and boots.

I watched the show last night. The meeting itself was drollery and I must admit that even I am wearing thin on the residents' comments.

Did you get a load of the idea for the seminary buildings? A boutique hotel. This might be the most grandiose, half baked plan I have ever heard. Pure comedy.

Let me get this right. The City will continue to own the "hotel" buildings but will lease them to a hotel operator. The hotel will have 15 rooms....... anyone even considering what kind of rate you would have to charge to return a profit on 15 rooms and that's with no service.

Of course, the area is what would drive occupancy. I can see the sales collateral now. "Come to our 15 room boutique hotel nestled on a 4 lane major arterial county road. Magnificant vistas of the aprtments across the street. Just blocks from the Page Avenue restaurant district where you can stroll between Steak n Shake, Taco Bell and Valvoline. Or, saunter into the hill counrty of West Overland for a relaxing drink. Sit and chat with the locals at Suewallers or test your bilingual abilities with a stop at the liqor store. If high tech is your fancy, well we have that too. Gaze at the 100' tall telecommunications globe just next door."

Quick tip to the "partners" running the hobby shop...... stick to running the hobby shop, maybe stand a little farther from the model glue.

Here is my proposal for Wild Acres. Keep it as a park. Assess the buildings and determine whether any of them have vlaue as public buildings (or can be repaired to become public buildings) tear the rest down. More open space, plant more trees, have a bigger park. Dare to dream.

This notion that the property is somehow part of our heritage is nonsense. It was a seminary and we weren't even allowed on the property except to to sneak into the woods with a chance of scaring some unsuspecting molester-in-training hiking through the forest. Overland bought it to preserve it as a park and keep it form developing. Whether this is good or bad is matter of personal opinion but is not a matter of right or wrong. What is wrong with owning it for the purpose for which it was purchased? A park.

Conlan, please help us.
