What's in a name? Sh*t by any other name would still reek!

You say Throndike, I say Thorndike.
You say "Not me", I say "ORT"
Throndike! Thorndike! "Not me!" "ORT!"
Let's call the whole thing what it is!

Have you received your November localite yet? I received mine yesterday and the advertisement entitled "Get Your Shovel…" was one of the first that I saw. It is obviously more ORT propaganda (but more on those lies and half-truths later).

The ORT underestimated the intelligence of Overland citizens. In their first attempt (The Overland Watch), they use Donna Dill's husband's name with just a slight misspelling. That one was figured out before the paper was distributed to the entire city.

Then they created false organization names. Of course, they would have to when they are throwing out lies and wild scenarios.

In the latest localite, they are at it again. And they try not to be obvious of the source of their propaganda by misspelling the last name Thorndike. To be exact, "R.A. Throndike". Spelling errors—they must like that as they feel it absolves them of any responsibilities.

The problem: There is no Throndike in Overland (or Missouri for that matter). If you take away the typo, Thorndike does exist in St Louis County. However, none in Overland. None with the first initial "R" in all of Missouri. The voter registration database shows neither a Thorndike or Throndike as a registered voter in the city of Overland. One can only conclude that if this person exists outside of the imagination of the ORT, then they aren't as involved a citizen as they lead you to believe.

One of these days, their false names are going to match up with a real person. Then who is the identity thief? And that is final irony—that those who put out a flyer about identity theft would be the ones using tactics with faux names and identities.

I sure hope COGG gets to the bottom of this fictitious, Throndike character. Throndike’s article in the Localite is full of lies and libelous statements against COGG.

Throndike’s article and Knode’s article in the Localite, mirrors the writings in the Overland Watch rag and the infamous fictitious Prime Watch. When will they stop their propaganda? Just because Purzner puts up propaganda crap on her personal website, does not make it right.

Suzyjax,

That was wonderful and thank you for looking.

I hope they piss off the Election Board, if any of them bother to call. Considering the board doesn't even have the list of who signed, so how can they take the name off when they don't even know who's on it.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they have to go get the signature again in order for it to be taken off?

These people are idiots.

The best part of the "Get Your Shovel" advertisement is the statement/question on whether one could be forced to appear in court as a result of signing the recall petition. Nothing like a thinly veiled threat of criminal charges to thwart the process.
I guess this for the folks that the "beware of identity theft" wouldn't work.

I guess in reality, Purzner could haul one into court to verify their signature on the petition. This is a common method when trying to rebutt the petition.

However, I feel that the COGG will have so many signatures that teh ORT such a task would be just a waste of time.

Thanks for the visual, Whitefolks!

The Localite did make for some good (humorous) reading this month. But, why oh why, is the city paying for Purzner's propaganda message? Dody never used the "Mayors Message" portion of the Our Town Updates to justify his actions.

Whitefolks,
Wanda is Dicky Knode's main brow beater. Purzner gives it to him on the side.

Oh and thanks for the frightening visual of Wanda sauntering out of the prison gates.....eeeeeeeeeooow.

Do you think pencil neck Knode is one of those sick-o’s that likes to have the crap slapped out of him by the Mrs. ?

New Girl,

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your post. They are to funny.

I would love to see her first 2 husbands if Knode is what she ended up with. Of course, by then you're scrapping the bottom of the barrel. That goes for both sides.

I also love how she sits there in her matronly clothes then cusses like the devil.

According to the neighbors she definitely wears the pants in the family.

I did not see her at the last council meeting. If Dicky made her stay home after the budget meeting incident I bet she was fuming.

Would not want her hot on my tail.

New Girl,

I don't it's pencil neck, it's pencil d...... oops sorry.

Maybe that's why Wanda always looks so unhappy.

I changed the original post a bit to add links to a copy of the advertisement referenced within.

I have also scanned and generated a link to the Kmode advertisement.

Here's a game: review both and see if you can find 7 or more phrases with similar ORTian wording.

"Snow" boots are not the boots that come to mind, after reading the piece by Throndike - barnyard boots would be better.

The "Throndike" ad reads like an Owenswig ad........hmmmmmmmmm

The similarities in Knode’s ad and Throndike’s ad is, they are both chalked full of lies and propaganda.

There are so many phrases that are similar, too early in the morning for me to list them. :-(

Guy,
What was Purzner vs Herron all about? What was Purzner suing Herron for? This is news, I didn't know about.

Guy,

I heard that when Tolen walks in a room the other lawyers all high five each other.

I don't know the details but there was a rumor that he just got into a bunch of trouble a couple of weeks ago.

By the way, who is paying Tolen?

Will his bill be coming up at a meeting?

Lucky it appears so. There's a small, nicely-finished, single-story office building on the East side of Woodson not far from Trescott.

When I first saw it over a month ago, it had "Tolen" on a paper sign on the door. I didn't see any signs of activity inside.

On STLtoday.com:

"Suit against city officials is dismissed

11/02/2006

ST. CHARLES — For the second time, attorney Eric Tolen's damage suit against city officials has been dismissed by a judge. The latest action was taken Monday by Circuit Judge Steven Goldman of St. Louis County.

Tolen, a lawyer in private practice, had sought more than $600,000 in actual and punitive damages for refusing to continue to pay him as the City Council's part-time legal counsel.

Goldman ruled that Tolen hadn't pleaded "sufficient facts." Tolen said Wednesday he plans to appeal the ruling. Last June another St. Louis County judge also had dismissed the suit.

Listed as defendants along with the city were Mayor Patti York, City Administrator Allan Williams, Council President Bob Kneemiller and Councilman Michael Weller. Tolen filed the suit in St. Louis County because he lives and works there."

First of all, I noticed a new poster who has taken the name "Lucky". Word to my fellow bloggers, this is flat-out identity theft. Do not be fooled. There is only one "Lucky" on this board and that is me. Be very careful in reading these posts. The true in-depth legal analysis and straight-forward critical commentary will still be here so don't be fooled.

Word to Lucky.... get a new name.

We will need to find out more about the Tolen debacle on the Herron case. The case is a state court case so it would not be appealed to the 8th Circuit (that would be Federal, as in the Overland 4 employment case). Also, althought there were "hearings" I don't believe the case ever actually went to trial. A case would not be dismissed for failure to appeal. A failure to appeal simply makes a judgment or ruling final but has nothing to do with a dismissal. Therefore, if the case was dismissed, it was probably either Tolen dismissed it himself or the Court may have dismissed it for failure to prosecute, meaning Tolen's laziness or loss of interest in the case.

Wasn't there a Mary Chapin Carpenter song a few years back that went "I feel lucky today"?

Perhaps this person was "feeling lucky"?

What next...someone as Ellen G Black?
