Well, contrary to their theory, the Chief’s regular city car was back in place yesterday afternoon. He would like to thank Donna Dill, Carol Sparkes, and DannyInfector for their concern while his car was undergoing some routine maintenance.

I think they are so used to wrapping themselves in and around lies, they don't know any other way to live. Sad, but obviously true. It would seem to be such a burden in life, on their part, to have to keep up with all the lies and half truths they spew. How can they stand living life like that?

A Ritenour Garden Club Meeting?
Etc?
If not than why the concern about Sunday's COGG meeting? I was not there so I can't speak about what happened at that meeting. However, it is normal for elected officials to attend meetings of local groups and it is NOT a Sunshine Law violation to do so.
As for Councilman Owensby and future Councilperson Keller not being there I don't know what to tell you. However, neither were at the Last OBA meeting, and Councilman Owensby has a well known history or ignoring any person group that does not blindly agree with his opinions.

SweetPickles I believe the confusion is that we are talking about two different meetings.
The OBA held a special meeting with the Council people that was a "getting to know you" sort of gathering. For that meeting, as I understand it you're correct, Peggy Keller was there and the only member of the next City Council that was not in attendance was Councilman Owensby.
However, I was referring to the regularly scheduled OBA meeting that was Thursday morning. For the record, I should have also clarified that the only member of the new Council I saw there was Councilman Schneider.
Ultimately, the issue for me is the suggestion that Council members choosing the attend meetings of a groups of residents is some how a violation of the Sunshine Law. That is simply absurd. It's important that our Council members be involved with the various organizations it town. It is another way for them to better understand the needs of those they represent.
DannyInspector just a quick note on COGG. It is not a single minded group, there are a lot of people with different beliefs and the like within it. How that will effect the group long term will remain to be seen.
As for it being "as bad as the ORT" because it is not single minded I tend to disagree, though there is always the possibility that it could go that way in the future. Only time will tell.
However, COGG is officially and legally filed with both the Secretary of State's Office and the Missouri Ethics Commission so when you see "Paid for by COGG" (or something similar) it is legit. Since the ORT is not legally filed with either State office they violate the law each time they claim something is "paid for by the ORT" (or something similar) because the organization does not legally exist (at this time anyway). So, at least in regard to the following the law the ORT worse, hands-down.

You see Sweaty, at no time did Chief Herron get or have a new city car. So nobody was twisting anything but you and your sweaty pickle. Now that is old fashion brine-power.
Sweaty starts with one of her usual loaded questions. An honest person who may be actually expressing curiosity would say, "I saw Chief Herron driving a different car than the majestic black Mercury Marquis the City provides to him. Does anyone know if Overland has purchased any new vehicles recently?"
I hope you note, Sweaty, how the sentence structure doesn't have an implicit smear within but rather seeks explanation and further information on a common observation.
Maybe I am completely wrong Sweaty. It is entirely likely that you don't know how people get cars. Maybe this will help. The overwhelming majority of American consumers purchase automobiles from businesses known as, "Auto Dealer" or "Auto Dealership".
The buyer and dealer will negotiate a sale price. The buyer will then exchange the monetary equivalent of the negotiated selling price with the seller and the take legal possession of the auto.
In short Sweaty, that is how people get new cars.
Sweetpickles no apology necessary. With more than one meeting of the same organization in the same week the confusion in understandable. I just figured I would clear it up so we all knew what everyone was talking about. :-)
As for the issue raised about how things are worded, I agree with you that everyone is free to word what they have to say the way they like. However, when we attempt to communicate with others and what we say does not come across the way we intended it to we really have no one to blame but ourselves. If the intent is to communicate, then we all need to consider how what we have to say may be perceived differently than what we actually intended to say. In life perception often carries more weight than reality.
Also, when posting online, with the lack of vocal tone, body language, eye contact, etc care should be taken because it is all to easy for people to take what we have to say the wrong way.
DannyInspector How "Closed door is a meeting when it is held in a public place in a room that actually has no "door" that divides it from the rest of the establishment? :-)
Seriously, look at it a different way. If our elected officials in Overland ran as democrats and republicans, they would not be violating any laws if those elected as republicans attended their local party organization meeting.
Political Strategy Meetings are OK, Policy meetings are not. Meeting with residents, groups, etc to listen to their concerns is OK, meeting with a group to disclose private city business or set city policy is not.
There are limits to what the Sunshine law applies to. Now, if you can provide evidence that policy decisions for the city was made at this meeting, than that would be something to look into. Of course you would have to be talking about actual Council members. Until tonight, 4 people on the next Council are not sworn in or officially on the Council yet.

This is your MO. You don't always come out and directly accuse. You like to "ask questions" and seem all confused. The chief's car issue was just the same. This falls under the half-truth category (not an outright lie, but not close to the truth).
Carol did the same thing with Corcoran. She asked silly questions about "what should someone do if their council member blah, blah, blah" when it was obvious she wasn't talking about her own council member.
DannyInfector started the conversation. You know, where he pretends he works for the city but one would think that someone who works in Public Works would recognize a city vehicle when they see a city official driving such vehicle.

I do give you the benefit of doubt. But when making such accommodation in relation to your utter lack of integrity, I am left with little benefit and much doubt.

In all fairness, people need to cut Ms. Keller some slack.
1) She is forced to sit next to Blowensme of all people.
2) It was her first meeting and many councilpersons abstained at their first meeting.
3) It was completely inappropriate for the COGG people to boo her, just as it was unacceptable for them to stand and turn their backs during previous meetings.
Neither action represents good government which requires responsible and respectful conduct from both elected officials and citizens.

1. Anyone running in ward 3 knew they'd be sitting next to Owensby if they won. And should know what to expect from him.
2. She was endorsed by Owensby & the rest of them, so I don't see where that would be a problem for her.
3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when voting they start w/ ward 1 & vote according to how they are seated. Owensby jumped in before her everytime. If she wanted to abstain from voting because it was possibly her first meeting, if nothing else, she should have known she was next in line to vote & told Owensby so.
4. Her abstaining came as a surprise to me, especially after all that was said about not enough repres. for ward 3 all year.
5. I would think whoever ran in 3 would have been even more prepared if elected. It was apparent at the debates that Oaks had done just that & she didn't have a clue.

She never once mentioned “FINE WINE”, so why did you get so upset and respond to that post, if you are not Carole???? You goofed yourself up AGAIN.
