Comparitive Campaign Lit: Keller
Whew! I am finally having time to post my thoughts on Keller's ad from this month's Localite. So much to say, so much to say--I guess I better get started.
She has three bullet points, Determination, Dedication, and Vision for the Future. She then expounds on Determination and Dedication. No further word on that vision for the future.
9 years work experience! Oh boy! I had 9 years of work experience before I could legally drink!
Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable experience? Is she running for mayor or city treasurer? Like New Girl has said, don't we all have this experience when we pay our bills, buy stuff for our homes, and get a job to pay for all of the bills and purchases?
The "platform" is the most telling (or lack of telling):
Overall opinion: Very ORTian!

The "platform" is the most telling (or lack of telling):
- She speaks of returning services back to the residents. Oh no--not the same ol' trash story!
- Takes time to slam the other two candidates as part of her platform. I can only take this to mean she plans to bring such negativity into the office of the mayor. (Note: this is NOT a platform item! Probably better under the "about myself" which is a weak area for her.)
- A balanced budget that stops wasteful spending. Hmmm...isn't by law the budget balanced each and every year? And, what exactly is the wasteful spending? If she continues to parrot Owensby I can only assume this to mean she would eliminate the police department in favor of the County and reduce spending in public works.
- "To give the residents a voice on how your heard earned tax dollars will be spent....". I can only assume this is linked to her proposal to put the Wild Acres/Seminary Property sale on the ballot. It also reminds me of Knode's desire to put the trash issue on the ballot. Our city council and mayor are elected to make budgetary decisions, including purchasing property and paying for services. Why should we vote for someone who cannot make the tough decisions on budgeting, etc?
Overall opinion: Very ORTian!

Regarding wasteful spending, I am sure there are ways we can be more thrifty at city hall and that there is some eyebrow raising expenses. However, I am weary of her statement when you think about how linked she had been to Owensby and his desire to eliminate the wasteful police department.
Again, a well-qualified CA should help find any problem areas in regards to truly "wasteful" spending.
The thing that caught my eye was full-time mayor.
One the position is not full-time, nor did I know they would be running a daycare out of city hall.
Two, if she has so much time, why was someone else answering her calls or fielding, however you'd like to take it.
She has yet to say how she plans on bringing in the green to Overland.
I'm also still confused as to why she has so much trouble understanding the budget during the meetings, with all of her experience.

A vote for Keller is a vote for Purzner.
A vote for Schneider is a vote for Munsch. Munsch's hands are all over the Schneider camp compliments of many including the current city treasurer. Everyone in Midland Valley know's her husband was Frankie's lacky for years. He use to go around and harrang people to put Munsch's signs in their yards hell I thought FM was suppose to stay out of Overland politics.
Surprised? Don't be anybody that has been around here for ever knows all about it. If you live in Ward 4 and go to All Souls or Our Reedemer you are aware of it.
I've known both these political groups for a very long time they are old dogs and you can't teach them anything they know it all.
Keller said “I am the only candidate presently not involved in a law suit”
Say there genius Keller “160”, uh read the news and get in the NOW, the suit was settled. Schneider had to pay his past due taxes.
Keller’s ad reeks of the ORT.
Say it aint so…..you are absolutely right, a vote for Keller is a vote for Purzner the lying RN.
Keller said “return the services back to the residents “. Can’t you come up with something more original, Keller? Must you chant the same old crap the ORT chanted?
YAaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwnnnnnnn!!!
I'll bet everyone can't wait to get one of your "trashy" bags hung on their door, Keller.
Anybody else out there attend the Kegger Phil Paul had last Friday night?
I wish I was invited or could have been able to hear the different excuses and rationalizations floating around the Tiki Torches. Can you imagine the variations as each person contorts their sense of ethics in order to support Mike Schneider? How many COGG members were part of the Schneider's fund raiser at Phil Pauls?
Also, has anyone heard a response from COGG in regard to the facts surrounding the Schneider case? Have they been able to name the dirty trick they so liberally spoke in their latest mailing?
Is lying to the government in order to shirk your responsibility as a citizen of this country consistent with "Good Government"?
Suggestions for Keller's next ad
I am the only candidate whose husband wants to kick Tom Jone's ass.
I am the only candidate that believes Ken Owensbey hair is real
I am one of two candidates that paid their taxes without PROTESTING
I am the only candidate with a clear misunderstanding of miscellaneous budget items.
I am the only candidate that when elected will be known as
MAYOR MEMAW
It's okay George to shirk your responsibilites to the government you want to represent unless you get caught.
I guess wanting to start increasing the cities revenues starts with the candidate paying his taxes like all of us.
Politics the oldest profession in the world. We are not worthy
Courtesy call anyone?
Truth or consequences,
I would like to add one to the “only candidate” list.
Peggy Keller…. I am the only candidate that has to have my husband cart my ass around because of my drunken driving problem.
Ok, what PhiL Paul thing? And why would Keller be involved?
No, I have heard nothing from COGG.
T Or C, isn't that the truth.
I had heard of Munsch being involved several months ago during the recall. Was told he donated money to the cause.
What is with all these people that move yet can't seem to leave us alone.
I do know Munsch was not happy when he sold his house, he had to put $10 or more thousand into it to get it to pass code. Then a month after it sold the owners were sent a letter to clean up the fence. Munsch had lived there for how long, doing nothing. Another Brooks if you ask me.
I'm not George (but love that George Clooney! ;0 ), however, I think he said KEGGER (as in beer) not Keller (as in driving after too many beers).
Hi All,
Been out of touch for awhile working and having minor surgery,
1 down, 2 to go.
Keller is a joke. Her staff is also putting literature on mail boxs, I believe that is wrong, but I could be mistaken. This may be off thread, but I got a newsletter from Lacy Clay last Friday stating they where now moving the Record Center to a new to be built facility in Spanish Lake. I will post it if I can find it, I have been taking a lot of pills lately
From Cong. Lacy Clay's Newsletter:
National Archives & Records Administration to Stay in St. Louis
New Site Is Big Win for North County
On Monday, I announced that the General Services Administration has secured 23.5 acres of land at 1829 Dunn Road for the construction of a state of the art 520,000 square foot facility that will house the new National Archives and Records Administration's National Personnel Records Center . Over 500 federal jobs that had been at risk to move elsewhere will remain in St. Louis .
This is great news for Spanish Lake, Bellefontaine Neighbors and St. Louis County . We fought hard to keep these good jobs in our community, and now, we not only keep all the jobs, this site will also generate new development at a prime location in North County.
The NARA complex is currently part of the Federal Records Center in Overland , at 9700 Page Avenue , which is slated for closure by the Base Realignment and Closing Commission.
The National Personnel Records Center is one of NARA 's largest operations with a central repository of personnel-related records for both military and civil service employees. It houses over 57 million military service records for veterans from the late 1890s through 2002
I don't know what was lurking between the shadows and the tikki torches behind Phil Paul's Wallace compound.
There was quite a crowd. I haven't seen that many Buicks in one place in quite some time. Appeared that quite a few specially interested received a courtesy call prior to the party.
I think I saw Pete Rose, Emelda Marcos, Don King, Wesley Snipes,Tom Pendergast, Duke Cunningham, Banard Kerrick and I think Leona Helmsley was also there but you would have to double check.
The was a lot of polyester swimming in that back yard.
Suzy,
I have't quit smiling.
I see M.A.T. is trying to tell us his “Federal Officer” friend put his job on the line for an NICI (without a need to know authorization) search for a DWI, that would not even show up on an NICI search. This proves you are a liar M.A.T. Things such as a DWI, unless the person is classified as a felon, gang member, terrorist, missing persons etc. or has a Federal Warrant, would not show up on an NICI search. So save your stupid mumbo jumbo for suckers who will fall for your BS. No FBI agent would do an NICI (with out a need to know authorization) search as a favor for a friend, just for the heck of it. You claiming your “Federal Officer” friend did this, should not be taken lightly.
ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: All records in NCIC are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards include restricting access to those with a need to know to perform their official duties, and using locks, alarm devices, passwords, and/or encrypting data communications.
USE CONSTRAINTS: Users of the NCIC system will be restricted to only those privileges necessary to perform an authorized task(s).
New Girl,
Thanks for all that, I wasn't going to bother responding. I know who told me & absolutely had no doubt of it's accuracy.
one-twolayer,
Your welcome.
:-)
Since this post is about Keller, I heard something related to her on the radio. The second half of today's Talk of the Nation dealt with how irrelevant and inaccurate IQ testing has been. For those who are not listening now or missed it, you can stream online here. (Usually not posted until after 5 PM)
Finewine,
Regarding the CC, I believe we voted for a (sales) tax increase part of which was to pay for building the CC (aka Musch-ma-Hall). So, in theory we didn't really vote for the CC, just the tax increase. Wild Acres did not get voted upon because it was not tied to a tax increase. (That's not to say in the future, the only way Overland has of keeping the property might be tied to some tax/ballot initiative that the voters might reject.)
I only point this out because I do not think we should be voting on EVERYTHING the council decides to do. They are elected to make these decisions (whether it is trash, buying/selling real estate, etc). To put this responsibility on the citizens is a dereliction of duty, not to mention cost prohibitive.
If we are going to go the route of citizen votes, then let's do away with the council and mayor and just hold town hall meetings. Now that's democracy!
It is refreshing to read the running dialog between Fine Wine and Blue Eyes. Leading by example, their back-n-forth, point-counter-point exchange of ideas always finds common ground. When people roll-up their sleeves and get to it, the reward can't be measured.
These two get right to the heart of the matter. And what about their knowledge of Overland political history you ask,...forget about it!
Keep the ideas flowing gang.
Got the Schneider door hanger and paper last night. I have a real problem with him copying Conlin's literature as he does. I want a Mayor that thinks for themselves and doesn't have to resort to copying his opponents literature to get elected. He say's integrity and character but yet he seems to lack both these qualities.
Think for yourself if you want to be the Mayor at least don't try to pull one over on the people we are too smart for that.
Richard Hatch has come out to endorse Schneider for Mayor this afternoon. The endorsements are adding up.
Mel Gibson endorsed Schneider yesterday.
Thanks for the compliments FineWine.

I could just see the issue's closing Brooks Park.
We might as well turm ourselves into the NAACP right now and save time...... "
Hey FineWine, I am still confused by your comment about turning ourselves into the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People as a consequence of selling Brooks Park to a developer.
Maybe you and Blue Eyes can "kick" that around for awhile. The problem is that your comment wreaks with racism. I know you can clear-up this misunderstanding unless you are racist.
Anyone hear any comment from the COGG about candidate Schneider's approach to STLC Personal Property Taxes. I was hoping the good government folks would come out to at least admonish the dirty candidate. Is there anything good left in the Citizens of Overland for Good Government?
goodwyn oliver boyee,
I asked what Fine Wine meant by that NAACP remark too. Never did get an answer. I just don't understand what the NAACP has to do with Brooks park. Was/is Mr. Brooks a black man? Does anybody know?
Gotcha, your a bigot.
That is the most complete explanation I have heard from you on anything. I knew you could get right to the heart of the matter.
I guess I missed something here, Fine Wine. I was just curious if Mr. Brooks was or is a black man, hence the NAACP would be upset about closing the park. I guess somebody else can explain why the NAACP, would get upset about Brooks park closing. Anybody care to stab at a bit of Overland trivia? Fine Wine does not want to reveal the history of Brooks park and the link the park has with the NAACP.
~whistles~ for Fido,
You lived in Overland for a long time; I hope maybe you can answer my question. FINE WINE mentioned we should turn ourselves in to the NAACP if we sell Brooks Park, but does not want to explain why and the history behind it. Do you know what the correlation is between Brooks Park and the NAACP?
Did the Overland Examiner go out of circulation rather than report on Mike Schneider's tax troubles?
What happened in Overland on Sunday with the family that had guns drawn on them it sounds like a lawsuit is in the making. There was something on tv about it last night. The woman said they made her crawl on the ground and had guns drawn on her family. It sounds like it happened outside of Overland so I don't know why Overland was involved at all.
Overland cops, no one made her crawl with a gun to her head. Have you watch an episode of cops when they get a passenger out of a car and put them on their knees before cuffing and stuffing.
That is what happened. It was mistaken identity and the family was free to go on without any charge or sanction within thirty minutes.
On TV It sounded like a scene from Blazing Saddles. The TV did not sound as cut and dry as your take Overland is not commenting on the incident at all.
FineWine is our resident bigot, I am sure she will be on top of the story. Hopefully blues will add some analysis as well.
FineWine,
What does the NAACP and selling Brooks Park have in common? We are simply asking you to clarify what you meant when you wrote:
"I could just see the issue's closing Brooks Park.
We might as well turm ourselves into the NAACP right now and save time...... "
They are your words FineWine, please clarify because on the face of it, it seems like a bigoted comment. Feel free to show us what we missed.
Tom,
Yes the tv report made the OPD look bad. But, when you consider they were saying they couldn't get an official comment two things should be considered. First, it was a national holiday. Secondly, they later said it was being investigated and I am sure there is some policy that says they don't comment on pending investigations.
Oliver I don't think the views of some of the posters on either site are that much different from the majority of the people living in Overland today.
I'm not saying that's right it's just my view.
Brooks park is a very nice park but it has been neglected for years by the city of Overland as well as the residents who use it.
Contarian: The chief has no problem appearing on camera for any other incident I realize it was a Holiday I suspect it wasn't even recorded yesterday it just looks poorly on Overland when NO ONE in a position of authority responds. Very bad Public relations on Overland's part.
It was recorded yesterday. I saw the Fox2 "taking the Senationalism to the Streets" van on Dielman ready to do a remote just before 5 PM yesterday.
Tom,
The Chief did respond on the issue, this is from the Post:
[Overland Police Chief James Herron told me Monday that there is no official incident report because there was no arrest. He had just received an e-mail from the night supervisor about the incident when we spoke. The sender was the same officer who was on the scene with Coleman and had told her why she was stopped.
Herron said that he knew there was a "felony vehicle stop" on Sunday, but little else. According to the e-mail, Coleman was "irate" and left the Overland police station without filing a complaint after she encountered the same officer.
"I can't say I blame her," Herron told me. "I can say that once I receive her complaint, it will be investigated — thoroughly."]
It is time for a new post!
Please help us
I am deleting your comment Tom. Please do NOT post an entire article here on the blog. It violates copyright and takes up too much space. Please just post a link to the article, in the future.
I've been thinking about a topic on a new post. I think I have an idea.
Tom,
I should have at least posted the link myself after the deletion. My bad.
Here is a link to the Post article.
I did not know you couldn't cut and paste an article. Sorry.
I will never know how to post a link. It took me long enough to figure out how to get an account on this blog. I have enjoyed reading this for a long time though.
Tom,
I completely understand. We addressed this issue a long, long time ago--PT (pre-Tom).
Don't worry about it.
