Shame! Shame! Shame on the Journal
Shame! Shame! Shame on the Journal for such one-sided coverage of the Overland Mayoral debate.
Really, Lester Dills is who they interview? Didn't in the debate Schneider say that was his hand-picked replacement?
And why interview Keller about the debate if she can't bother to show up?
And a committment to "discuss" an upgrade by a commissioner of a partially funded system that has no room for growth in our area (Metro) hardly merits a mention. It is a false promise that cannot be fulfilled with our current lack of funding for Metro bus service.
Update: I should have mentioned (as well as recommended) that Journal has a feature that allows readers to post comments to articles, letters to the editor, etc. I am sure they won't allow anything that is out of line, but I don't feel it is out of line to question their objectivity or perhaps just laziness of their reporters.
It is at the bottom of each article, letter, editorial, etc.

Well, thinking about the Journal kind of inspired me. I have posted a new article to the Overland Picayune after months and months of no activity. I might even have some other ideas in the back of my head.
Well the Schneider Campaign must be learning the proper way to play the shell game how to hide the under the table money and not record it. I see on the previous post that the Asst Treasurer to Schneider's Campaign is none other than the one and only Treasurer of the COGG. P&Z Chair donates $32xx.xx, COGG ORT/Dody eat your heart out he is playing both sides against the middle. We get what we deserve.
Oh and should he really be charging his legal bills to his campaign? I love the way he continues to slip on by.
Check out the 2 letters in the editorial section
One-twolayer,
I read the two letters to the editor. Looks like they are blaming the Collector of Revenue for giving the Schneider’s a tax waiver. They claim the Schneider’s just went to register their vehicles and were given a waiver. Give me a break!!!! Yeah, like everybody gets a two year waiver. You have to let the Revenue department know when you moved to Missouri, the Revenue department does not take it upon themselves to make up a date for people who move here, you have to let them know. The Revenue department took the Schneider’s word that they moved here in February 2006, until they learned otherwise that the Schneider’s lied about it!!!! Why are these people trying to cover up for the Schneider’s? What is in it for them? Why did it take OVER a year for the Schneider’s to register their vehicles? I don’t care if the vehicles were in their name or their company’s name, it doesn’t matter. When you move to Missouri you have 30 days to register your vehicles, be it that they are personal vehicles or company vehicles. What a bunch of BS. Schneider’s got off on a technicality, because the Collector of Revenue did not catch the lie as of May 22nd. If these Schneider supporters believe otherwise, they are delusional.
You know, I am really sick and tired of people trying to make feeble excuses up for the Schneider’s not paying their personal property taxes, and trying to trivialize the matter.
Sailor,
I loved your comment under the “Why does Jeffrey R. Jull want Schneider to be mayor so badly” thread. Never a true word more spoken. In my opinion, it deserves the post of the week award :-)
Newgirl,
Are you trying to influend the judge? ha! I haven't done a POW for a while. Maybe it is time again.
All,
Again, I suggest you post a comment in the online section of the journal, too. They have rules about no name calling but bringing up valid points (such as the 30-day rule) is fully allowed.
Suzy,
Guilty as charged ::: blushing :::
Thanks for the kind words NGit. Truth be told, I have to go look at it again to see what it was that made it so well received LOL.
Sailors Post is very telling. I think you might see a council going for a forensic audit after all and the more I think about the more I believe they need to do a forensic audit. Screw the state audit they need to audit the departments and the permits process and procurement.
I have to agree that something seems very suspicious going on with these Schneider supporters. They seem to be excusing away Schneider’s attempt to avoid paying his personal property taxes; that leads me to believe that there may be other underhanded deals going on that this bunch wants to hide and excuse away.
They are trying to make Mary Beth out to be the “bad guy” for bringing this tax issue out in the open, yet that is what COGG wanted an open and transparent government, yet when the finger is pointed at them and Schneider, COGG cries foul. COGG wanted Mary Beth to do smokey back room deals with Schneider. Thank God Mary Beth didn’t comply and did the logical and honest attempt of filing a petition to uncover Schneider’s deceit upon the Collector of Revenue’s office and the citizens of Overland.
Thank you Mary Beth for your honesty, bravery and integrity.
Hold your head up high; you did the right thing bringing this issue out in the open, instead of partaking in dirty deals with Schneider and his supporters.
What a bunch of hogwash, the county made a mistake with giving him a waiver. When did you ever hear of them being on your side instead of theirs.
There was an article in todays paper about a couple that had owned their home since I think 1968, that it got auctioned of because of a $1.63 upaid tax bill. For 7 yrs they have been trying to get this taken care of.
We're to believe the county messed up & Schneider had not part in this.
BS
Hey folks, as you likely already know, there are three opinion pieces in this weeks Suburban Journal about Overland. All of them are worth a read, a few a rant and one a bravo.
Remember, you can add a comment to them online (and the Journal sometimes runs a story about such comments on particularly active articles / opinion pieces the following week).
So far there has been a great response to several of them (likely thanks to Suzy's post about them, way to go Suzy!). In fact, they have the most comments I've ever seen on a single item.
That said, who says it has to stop there? Check them out and comment on them if you have anything you want to add (a hint: though it says you can comment up to 200 words the limit is actually 194, I have no idea why).
Here they are for ease of locating them:
Stop playing politics in Overland
Conlon's tactics raise questions
Voters should make an informed decision
3200 in printing donated by the Chairman of Planning and Zoning?
More than explains what the stakes are and they must be high. Cogg Treasurer is Schneiders Treasurer too. Overland voters get ready to bend over again for the Dody bunch
Opps, I missed another opinion piece on the subject:
Legal action was not 'noble cause'
Hey I'm A Ward 4 Anti Warrior.
Schneider came by this weekend gave a nice song and dance convinced me that the only way to turn Overland around is to vote for Mary Beth
Yowser I love the Picayune. I want a couple of my own personal Wonder Woman Ward Warrior all to myself.
Can the Wonder Women themselves become invisible? For instance if me and the Wonder Women are downstairs working on rearranging my ratchets, hoses and nuts can they make themselves invisible if the Mrs. comes home from work too early?
gil,
Wait until Schneider puts on his dog and pony show....LOL
Tom,
This Dody/Schneider affiliation is very scary. Overland take heed, please don't let this city go to the crapper again by voting for Schneider.
Okay so did the printing guy do all the signs for Schneider?
Sorry about my previous post but the Wonder Women Warriors really got me going
Another good letter to the editor in the Journal was the one captioned:
LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Double standard?
Here is the link to the letter that NGIT pointed out.
Double Standard
This is probably a speed record of some sort for me, but everything worked out just right and as a result the video of the OBA Mayoral Candidates Q & A is already available. :-)
