Why does Jeffrey R Jull want Schneider to be mayor so badly?

According to MoEthic Commission reports filed with the County Election Board, Schneider's biggest contributor to the campaign (to the tune of a $3275.00 in kind donation) was Jennings Printing. The Secretary of State shows that President and lone member of the Board of Directors of this corporation is Jeffrey R. Jull.

Perusing the City of Overland's website, there is a Jeff Jull listed as chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Is this a conflict of interest on the part of the P&Z board?

When you think about how his donation totals almost 3/4 of the remaining cash donations, it makes you wonder why?

What motivates someone to the point of such a large contribution in such a small city mayoral race?

Kick-back.

This is an old favorite of the Jacksonian spoils system of politics in which the party came to be funded by the government. Government employee would receive salary with the expressed intent of returning some portion to the party to finance campaigning. If employee did not "kick back" monies to the party, they would lose their job.

Rather than having incumbents finance their campaigns directly through government largess, they would set-up a scam such as Schneider is currently using to finance his campaign.

The in-kind campaign finance from an appointed member of P/Z Committee is a different wrinkle of the scam.

These types of arrangements were for the most part eliminated with the introduction of a merit based professional civil service in the form of the Pendleton Act.

Thus, although over one hundred years late, Overland could also have a professional civil service provided Mary Beth Conlon is our Mayor.

Everyone knows Schneider is an unethical businessman as well as politician. His supporters simply choose to look the other way or rationalize their support for Schneider out of "whole cloth."

I understand that the COGG is changing their name to the COUG.

Citizens of Overland for Unethical Government.

I like to think of it as turning a blind eye.

I am amazed that with everything that has come out that there are sitll supporters of Schnieder. I do not understand.

The only thing I can come up with is that this is how bad both sides do not want MaryB in. Which is as far as I'm concerned she needs to be.

What & how much are these people hiding & how much is at stake.

There will never be an end to the cronyism, special favors and conflict's of interest in Overland when huge denoations like this one are made by people serving as the head of the the most powerful board. This to me is a major Conflict of Interest another example more of the same old ways.

1 Layer you are right.

Onelayer,
I wonder if it is that or if some feel that a Schneider victory is their personal victory. Those people then convince their friends and neighbors that Schneider "is the man".

I beleive its about ego, pure and simple. Schneider has an ego that is unbelieveable. Dody, Muncish and the rest of the EX OLD BOYZ will let Mike has his ego while they continue to pull the strings in the government.

To Schneider its all about him BIG MIKE, the Mayor of OVERLAND< MO. just another pat on his own back about great he is.

Maybe the idea of a forensic audit was so far off as long as it goes back through a couple of administrations.

What with Printers this is the second on in Town that seems to have his own agenda. Must be in the ink.

I have to admit, seeing so many of the old guard on both sides coming together to support Councilperson Schneider for Mayor I am beginning to wonder if a Forensic Audit, going back say 20 years (if possible) is not a good idea after all.

One thing I'm tired of is the "end of toxic politics" line. I can't seem to go a day without hearing about unfounded propaganda being spread against Councilperson Conlon. How do you end "toxic politics" if you participate in it daily?

A recent example is that of a COGG member calling a legal action to uphold election laws a "frivolous lawsuit" (even though Councilperson Schneider had to pay those personal property taxes as a result of this action).

How does that jive with promoting good government and transparency?

The tactic is very familiar. Former Mayor Purzner called the various legal actions brought against her "frivolous lawsuits" as well, even though each of those suit simply sought to hold her accountable to the law.

Many of the people that are now participating in these tactics daily are the same ones who laughed at how ridiculous Purzner's responses were. The Hypocrisy here is mind blowing.

Sailor,
Is that the same letter that promotes transparency and a few sentence later asks why there was no "back room deal" with Conlon going directly to Schneider?
