Oh...I just haven't been able to stop laughing over the Peggy Keller running for mayor thing. Some have nailed it on the head--25 days experience--but let's look at that angle. I attended the last city council meeting and Keller had trouble following the agenda. If she can't follow the agenda as a participant, how is she going to do it as the leader.
Her experience is zilch.
Her record at meetings is pitiful. (Really, she should sit on Owensby's shoulder if she just wants to parrot all he says.)
Why would anyone (in their right mind) vote for her?!
It's not like she overwhelmingly won the worrisom Wort 3. 51.73% does not a mandate make in your own ward--let alone the entire city.
For someone who claims a genius IQ, this isn't a very smart move on her part.
Now, let's settle on a nickname.

I was also thinking AJ or Ann, JR for those that want to type it out.
Any other ideas?

Taking care of ones family should be a natural loving thing to do. Why do people feel they need a "gold star" or told "how commendable" they are, for doing something that is a natural course of life? If people look for accolades and need to be told how great they are for what should be a natural act of love, I really must question their character. Nurturing, loving and taking care of my children comes natural to me, I never looked at it as a “heroic” measure and never once looked for a reward for doing it, because it is something I enjoy doing from my heart. If people are looking for “how great you are” for taking care of their family, they should never have had children, because they did it for the WRONG reasons. When people look for “atta boys” for raising their children and Grandchildren, then they must feel burdened by that position.
Now, I tried not to use too much “RUDE” slang to offend you, I know you are highly sensitive. And I sure hope you don’t eat “chitlens”, chitterlings are ok to eat, but please don’t turn to cannibalism. Or did you use RUDE slang when you said you ate chitlens? As you asked me to be a “little more clear” I now ask you to practice what you preach :-)

I noticed that ORT-arians do brag about stuff that I thought were just natural things people did, i.e. volunteer work, raising children, helping people et cetera. They always want to draw attention to their "good works", and look for praises from people for what they do. So my question still remains, do they do these things for praises or from the kindness of their hearts? I would say they do it for praises, because they have to shove it in our faces for any "good works" they do.
Are we supposed to be coming-up with good ideas? I wish someone would have told me sooner, I would have stopped posting a long time ago.
Here is a good idea for Ms. Keller. If she would like people to take her seriously she should differentiate herself from the carnival barker in disguise.
And let me know if I am in error here, but aren't the leaders supposed to come up with the good ideas? Why did Keller run for Alderman if she aspired to be Mayor? What changed between the past election and today to make Keller not want to represent Wort 3 but rather be Mayor.
And what about all that fake bitching from the ORT about Wort 3 not having proper representation. Keller runs for office but now wants to abandon her constituents leaving Wort 3 with one alderman.
She is a walking contradiction.

Her jones for an unnecessary and unwarranted state audit is enough to disqualify her. What would qualify her? Self professed business experience(?). Come on Bear, shoot straight. You know how we feel but you are extremely passive in telling us how you feel.

Finally, I will agree with you that the Overland Peace Corp is a good idea, but that is all that it will be as the costs/risk of such an idea far outweigh any benefits.
You must be referring to the discussion concerning the audit where the good ideas came from those not wanting to waste resources auditing the books.

Most of the people on Overlandchat made this big fuss that Keller Jr. watches her Grandkids....I say big deal....millions of people watch their Grandkids.
The "waste" I was referring to, that Suzyjax was smart enough to figure out, was Keller claimed to have an above average genius IQ of 160 and was only a general office clerk. She should be splitting atoms or inventing something in a research lab with that type of genius she claimed to have (lied about). I sure hope this puts this crap to rest.....

Keller did tote her accomplishments as being a babysitter for her Grandchildren in the Post Dispatch when running for Wort 3 Councilperson. Keller lying about an out of reach IQ for 98% of the world population concerns me. If she would lie about such a profound stupid thing such as that, what else is she lying about? That would be the equivalent to me saying I work at McDonalds and make $5,000 an hour flipping burgers. That would be an outright stupid lie. But there may be some suckers out there that would believe it. Do you think anybody would take me seriously if I coughed up such a stupid lie? I would think not, and if they did, I would question their mental stability.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with watching ones Grand Chitlens, if you are fortunate enough to be able to stay home and do so. But does that give one privy to Saint Hood….nah Personally I would look at that as a pleasure more so than an accomplishment.

Back to this audit thing...again I say, what is the reason for this. A suspicion without some justification does not make the cost worthwhile. Especially when you consider that various sides in the past have been much suspicious of the others just for being on opposite sides.
Sweetpickles, you mentioned a petition is being circulated seeking a state audit. I would like to know where someone goes or who they contact to look into signing it. I can't say that I would, without specific concerns and details of how far back they are seeking to audit, but I would certainly like to see it.
Hopefully the people seeking signatures for this petition will be a bit more forthcoming that those who had the petition to Recall Councilperson May. Those folks wouldn't tell anyone the specifics (including the Post Dispatch) and would not let me even see it on Election Day in April.
On another note, this weekend Councilpersons Conlon and Schneider held meetings to introduce themselves to Overland Residents. Both were kind enough to allow the events to be video taped and posted at The Overland Examiner.

Fine Wine, you ask why not have a state audit. An answer has been repeatedly given, it costs anywhere from 60% more to over twice as much as our current audits cost (according to the Secretary of State's office).
(SIDE NOTE: Now that is not the cost for a "forensic audit". Forensic auditing is expensive, as can be seen in the City of Berkley right now. Berkley is currently undergoing a forensic audit going back only 6 years. So far they have paid $75,000.00 and the audit is still ongoing.)
If no one is going to express specific concerns, or make specific allegations why should we waste the extra money? It would be one thing if there was some legitimate concerns about mishandling of funds but to date no one has presented anything specific. President Pro Tem May asked Councilperson Owensby for specifics at the last Council meeting to which silence was the only reply (as referenced in this Suburban Journal Article ).
There are residents that want to City to find a way to fund "city paid" trash service, the reconstruction and reopening of a city pool, a newsletter, a city calendar, programs for the elderly, and more. How do we possibly hope to accomplish any of these or similar things if we spend money on every wild goose chase that comes up?
If there are specific concerns or allegations then let's hear them (from whomever claims to be in the know). If they are grounded in reality and can be verified (or at least not easily disproven) then I could potentially support the idea of a state audit. Until than I would rather the city spend its money on things that actually benefit the community.

What's the difference between Conlon's Mayoral run and Keller's given their recent successful campaigns for the Council?
One keen difference between Conlon and Keller is that Conlon has always said she would run for Mayor again and never represented otherwise. Conlon voters wanted her to win the council seat held by ORT Representative Tom Sellers and new she would run for Mayor again at first opportunity.
Keller, under the other hand, constantly railed against Purzner's opposition for not filling the empty Wort 3 seat vacated by Ann Purzner.
Two months later she files to run for Mayor thus opening the possibility of another empty Wort 3 seat.
